At TheEmbroideryWarehouse, we offer a traditional 2 head machine and another 2 head type system which is called the Dual System.

With the traditional 2 head, you are working with ONE embroidery machine with 2 heads.  Both heads run off the same X,Y and Z motors and are only capable of running the same logo on each head.  If you want to do caps, each head needs to be setup for caps.  If you want to do shirts, each head needs to be setup for shirts.  With the DUAL system, you working with 2 completely separate embroidery machines, each with one head.   The machines are wireless capable of sharing the same embroidery files.  However, unlike the traditional 2 head, each head (machine) will run independently.  So in this case each head (machine) can run its own design either setup with the cap system or the tubular system.

Pros/Cons of Each type of 2 head

“Traditional 2 head”

  • Pro – Price – The price is going to be better than purchasing the Dual setup
  • Con – Efficiency – When one head breaks a thread or stops for any reason, both heads stop.
  • Con – Space – Larger footprint than a Dual System

“Dual 2 Head”

  • Pro Efficiency – When one head breaks a thread or stops for any reason, it does not affect production on the other head
  • Pro  Flexibility – Run caps on one machine and shirts on the other
  • Pro Flexibility – Each machine can run a separate design
  • Pro Flexibility – Have one machine in one room (or building) and the other in another room or building.  They do not need to be connected at all
  • Con – Price – The price is going to be more because you are basically purchasing 2 machines.  The price might be close to double that of a traditional 2 head
